Description

Master Plan for 988.42 acres site which will include agriculture restoration for permaculture farming, eco-tourism mountain and lake destination. The master plan includes several areas of development including the sensitive repurposing of an existing ancient village from the Song Dynasty preserving the architecture and character of the vernacular Anhui architecture. 1,500+ residential mountain villa sites are planned for the total build out. Role / Services
Pre-Design, Concept and Schematic Design, Leading and contributing role of overall site strategy and design of various portions of the 988.42 acre master plan. Lead and contributing role in the design and detailing of the ancient village hotel, tea house and conference center sites. Lead and contributed to the unit and infrastructure layout of approximately 1,500 residential villa sites organized into into village clusters, each including amenities such as a community center, hiking trails, public parks with overlooks, and other special programs relative to the geography and assets of each village topography, elevations, and views. Th U+ design team served in a prime role to facilitate the design of the villa types, for this exercise, Carrie was part of the review team to propose, interview and select candidates for a teaming partner, ultimately choosing Thomas Phifer + Partners. Furthermore, Carrie contributed to the collaborative review process where she provided feedback and clarifications on the clients vision throughout conceptual and schematic design phases. Lead and facilitated the design competition for the marketing house site, with pre-design and development of the project brief, articulating conceptual narratives and programming that aligned with our clients vision for the overall master plan. Carol Ross Barney, Brad Lynch, and U+Nanjing were invited to participate in the competition. Duration of project involvement: over 3 years.
