A Spirited Approach to Design Leadership
By Carrie Kramer, Visionary Design Leader, Futurist, Strategist, Architect
After years of immersion in complex capital projects, I launched Carrie Kramer Design with a singular conviction: the most meaningful architecture is an act of deep human empathy.
Our consultancy exists to elevate and guide the conceptual design process and planning for a wide range of clients and stakeholder's, in making investments that aren't just financially sound, but profoundly life-affirming. We believe your project can and must serve a triple bottom line—elevating people, planet, and our collective future—transforming a mere structure into spaces that sing with enduring human value.
1. People: Designing for the Human Spirit
Our consulting work begins with understanding the human being at the center of the design. We don't just plan spaces; we plan for experiences, well-being, and genuine belonging.
The Experience of Space
My background in cultural & sacred Architecture and phenomenology taught me that a building's most important quality is how it makes you think, feel, and remember. It’s about the quiet magic when light falls just right, or when a material texture invites a moment of peace. We advise clients on intentional design choices, using voluntary architectural simplicity to create moments of contemplation—offering necessary counterpoints to a busy world. This commitment means consulting on sensory details that nurture the human spirit.
An Unwavering Commitment to Inclusion
For me, Inclusive Design is personal. As a lived experience advocate, I champion the need to design for neurodiversity and disability inclusion, moving beyond minimum code to truly raise the bar for everyone. We partner with teams to implement standards for elements like careful acoustics and non-glare lighting, turning spaces from places of potential sensory friction into environments of comfort, equity, and acceptance. This approach ensures every individual is seen, valued, and supported by the space itself.
2. Planet: Stewardship and Legacy
Our responsibility to the planet is a shared act of stewardship—ensuring the spaces we create today contribute positively to the future.
Holistic Master Planning
When consulting on Master Planning our focus is on knitting human well-being and environmental health together. Advocating for intentional open green space is about creating resilience—not just ecological resilience against runoff, but emotional resilience for the people who use the campus. We leverage Strategic Planning & Data Analytics to root our sustainable recommendations in measurable, long-term impact and legacy.

Respect for the Source
Our advisory is informed by projects that honor their context, such as the Memorial to the Ancestors in Nepal. This work showed that true sustainability comes from respecting local materials, traditions, and the landscape. We help clients achieve genuine sustainability by focusing on simplicity and integrity, resulting in built environments that feel honest and enduring.
